NASCAR Racing At Las Vegas

Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. A busy day for NASCAR race fans at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday. To start the day out, there was NASCAR Sprint Cup practice for the Kobalt Tools 400 to be raced on Sunday. Kyle Busch damaged his #18 car in this first practice session after qualifying second on Friday. They were not able to repair the car on pit road and had to bring out the back up car. They will be starting the Kobalt 400 race from the rear.

Next up was Coors Light Pole Qualifying for the NASCAR Nationwide race, the Sam’s Town 300 to be raced later on Saturday. Fourty-three cars are entered in this race, and all will race. 74 Mike Harmon was slowest in practice on Friday, and came out first. Many drivers were pole sitters when they made their qualifying run. After the qualifying, 2 Elliott Sadler sits on the pole with a speed of 181.366 mph and 29.774 seconds around this 1.5 mile track. 38 Kasey Kahne will start next to him on the front row.

Next came Happy Hour for the Sprint Cup Series. 48 Jimmie Johnson got into the wall and had to pull out the back up car from the hauler. 42 Juan Pablo Montoya had to change his engine and will also start from the rear. 9 Marcos Ambrose took a ride through the grass in the infield. 16 Greg Biffle had engine trouble that they were trying to fix.

With Busch and Johnson starting from the rear, 20 Joey Logano finds himself starting the Kobalt Tools 400 in second, while 88 Dale Earnhardt, Jr. starts fourth. Joey and 55 Mark Marting were fastest in Happy Hour.

Next up: Sam’s Town 300 NASCAR Nationwide race. I shall return!
