Rain Dampens Festivities At Martinsville

Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. NASCAR racing is at the Martinsville Speedway this weekend, but Mother Nature is not a race fan. Friday practice for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race was canceled because of rain. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series was able to take to the track for practice before rain came along again to shorten the practice for the Kroger 200. The Tums Fast Relief 500 is scheduled for Sunday.

Because of all the rain, Coors Light Pole Qualifying was canceled on Saturday so the teams could get in some practice before the race on Sunday. They will be lining up according to owner points, with the chase drivers up front. On Saturday the Sprint Cup drivers did manage to get onto the track for practice before the Trucks qualified. The top ten fastest in practice were: Michael McDowell, Clint Bowyer, Jimmie Johnson, Jamie McMurray, Scott Speed, Paul Menard, David Stremme, Juan Pablo Montoya, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

The Kroger 200 Truck race is Saturday afternoon, with 88 Matt Crafton starting from the pole position. He set a new track record with a speed of 96.352 mph and 19.653 seconds around this short track. 33 Ron Hornaday, Jr. starts beside him on the front row.

Brought to you by Sheila Hawley. I love NASCAR racing.
