NASCAR Racing At Martinsville

Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is in Virginia this weekend at the Martinsville Speedway for the Tums Fast Relief 500. Martinsville is a tiny paper clip flat race track. At .526 miles around, it is the shortest track on the circuit. The track looks like a paper clip, with two straightaways and two u-turns. Martinsville Speedway is also the oldest track. And the Trophy for the winner is a Grandfather clock. Richard Petty has fifteen of them! Jeff Gordon has seven. Lately though, Jimmie Johnson (6) and Denny Hamlin (4) have been winning at this track. Their streak may be over, as Kevin Harvick won the race here in the Spring.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is also at the Martinsville Speedway and will race the Kroger 200 on Saturday. Two Sprint Cup drivers are entered in this race. Kevin Harvick will be racing his #2 Truck, while Denny Hamlin will be racing Kyle Busch’s #18 Truck. Both trucks are going for the Owner championship in the Series.

I shall return with updates on practices and qualifying. Need NASCAR tickets? Vivid Seats has tickets for most sporting events.

Brought to you by Sheila Hawley. I love NASCAR racing.
