NASCAR Racing At Chicagoland

Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. This week NASCAR travels to Joiet, IL. and the Chicagoland Speedway. This is a 1.5 mile D-shaped oval just outside of Chicago. All three top NASCAR Series’ will be racing this weekend.

The Geico 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race is the first race of the chase for the Sprint Cup, NASCAR’s version of a playoff. (Stupid, I know, to have a playoff in racing, but there it is.) Last year David Reutimann won the 400 here. He also holds the race record of 145.138 set 7/10/10. Jimmie Johnson holds the qualifying record of 188.147 set in 2005. Let’s see of anyone can break that record this year. Last year this race was a night race. This year it will be Sunday afternoon.

The NASCAR Nationwide Series will be racing the Dollar General 300. Last year Kyle Busch won the race. (Another Cup driver in Cup quality equipment wins again.) The race will be on Saturday afternoon.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be racing the Fast Five 225 on Friday night. Last year Kyle Busch won the 225. One can only hope a Truck driver will win the race on Friday.

Vivid Seats has most tickets for NASCAR races. I shall be back to report practice and qualifying if anyone will televise anything!

Brought to you by Sheila Hawley. I love NASCAR racing.
