NASCAR Racing At Richmond

by

Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. This week NASCAR is at the Richmond International Raceway in Virginia. This is a short track, only .75 miles around. It is a D-shaped oval. And in my opinion, about the best track around, with enough room to race. For the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, this is the final race before the chase and sets the twelve chase drivers. Racing at Richmond is always a night race.

Friday started out with practice for both the NASCAR Nationwide Series and the Sprint Cup Series. Coors Light Pole Qualifying also took place for both Series’. Nationwide will race the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 later on Friday with Sprint Cup drivers capturing the first three positions. Brad Keselowski will start from the pole with a speed of 123.757 mph and 21.817 seconds around the track. Carl Edwards will start next to him on the front row. Danica Patrick will be starting the race near the rear in thirty-second. Fain Skinner, T. J. Bell, Casey Roderick, Jake Crum, John Jackson and Jennifer Jo Cobb will not be racing Friday night.

Jeff Gordon was fastest in the first practice and came out last for qualifying. He will start seventeenth. Capturing the Pole position was David Reutimann with a speed of 127.382 mph and 21.196 seconds around the track. Many cars are honoring 9/11 with American Flags on the cars. Mike Skinner, Erik Darnell and T. J. Bell failed to qualify for the Wonderful Pistachios 400 race Saturday night.Should you need tickets I have to recommend Vivid Seats. They have tickets for most Sporting events.

The Virginia 529 College Savings 250 is coming up Friday night. See you after the race.
