NASCAR Racing At Atlanta Motor Speedway

by

Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. NASCAR racing is at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, GA. I got to see NASCAR Sprint Cup Happy Hour for the AdvoCare 500  on Saturday. Jeff Gordon was fastest. Brad Keselowski was fastest in the first practice session on Friday, the session that determines qualifying order.

Coors Light Pole Qualifying took place for the Great Clips 300 Nationwide race. 88 Aric Almirola was fastest in practice and came out last, but he only had enough speed for eleventh place. Carl Edwards will start the race from the Pole position with a speed of 179.452 mph and 30.894 seconds around this 1.54 mile track. Brad Keselowski is back in his #22 Nationwide car and will be starting the race from the front row in second. Brother Brian and Mike Harmon failed to qualify for the race.

Coors Light Pole Qualifying for the Sprint Cup race also took place on Saturday afternoon. Forty-seven were entered, so three will go home. Out first was Tony Raines.  Kyle Busch held the position for awhile, but Kasey Kahne was the first to drive more than 186 mph. None of the nine fastest in practice were able to go that fast. Kahne starts from the Pole with a speed of 186.197 mph and 29775 seconds around the track. Clint Bowyer will be starting second on Sunday. Maybe one of these guys will win the race and get into the chase. David Stremme, Geoffrey Bodine and T. J. Bell failed to qualify for the AdvcoCare 500 on Sunday.

Brought to you by Sheila Hawley. I love NASCAR racing.
