Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. NASCAR is in Thunder Valley this weekend. That is, Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee. This short .533 mile track is the fastest half mile in the world. The NASCAR Nationwide Series will race the Food City 250 race on Friday night. They had practice earlier on Friday. Coors Light Pole Qualifying took place Friday afternoon. 18 Kyle Busch will start the race from the pole with a speed of 120.083 mph and 15.979 seconds around the track. Team mate 20 Joey Logano will start the race next to him on the front row. Six drivers had to go home.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is also in Thunder Valley. They had two practice sessions with 99 Carl Edwards being fastest in the first practice and coming out last for qualifying. The Irwin Tools Night Race will be raced on Saturday evening, into the night. In qualifying, 39 Ryan Newman came out fortieth, with forty-six cars qualifying. 17 Matt Kenseth could not match that speed and neither could Carl, who came out last. Carl will start second, Matt will start third. Ryan will start from the pole with a speed of 122.811 mph and 15.624 seconds. Kyle Busch, the pole sitter in the Nationwide race will start twenty-third. T. J. Bell, J. J. Yeley and Jeff Green failed to make the race.
Next up: The Food City 250 Nationwide race.
