NASCAR Racing At Pocono

by

Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. This weekend and Saturday in particular, is lots and lots of racing. Get ready race fans. Starting out the day, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is at Pocono Raceway. Pocono Raceway is a 2.5 mile “tricky triangle” with three different corners based on three different tracks. With three different length straightaways in between. Indy, Milwaukee and Trenton give their corners to Pocono. It is located in the mountains of Pennsylvania in Long Pond.

Qualifying for the Good Sam RV Emergency Road Service 125 Truck race took place first Saturday morning. As you know, the qualifying order is determined by practice speeds on Friday with the slowest Truck coming out first and the fastest out last. This makes for a lot of Pole sitters. 76 year old James Hylton in the 75 Truck came out first and 2 Kevin Harvick was the last Truck to qualify.

29 Parker Kligerman held the Pole position for quite awhile until 7 Miguel Paludo took it from him. However, Paludo was still on the track when 13 Johnny Sauter, making his run, rounded the corner and slammed into the wall. Johnny is the points leader. 18 Kyle Busch knocked 7 Paludo off the Pole. Finally, the fastest in practice came out to qualify. And 2 Kevin Harvick sits on the Pole with a speed of 162.684 mph and 55.322 seconds around this massive track, setting a new track record. 18 Busch will start in second later today.

Next up is NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifying for the Good Sam RV Insurance 500, also at Pocono Raceway. 39 Ryan Newman was fastest in practice. Also on Saturday will be the ARCA Racing Series at Pocono Raceway. And later in the day will have the NASCAR Nationwide Series at the Iowa Speedway, will qualify for and race the U. S. Cellular 250. I shall do my best to keep you informed.

Brought to you by Sheila Hawley. I love NASCAR racing.
