Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. The twenty-first race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Season is at the Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, PA. They will be racing the Good Sam Insurance 500 this weekend. Last year Greg Biffle won the Sunoco Red Cross PA 500 while owner Jack Roush recovered from a plane accident in the hospital. This track hosted the 5 hour Energy 500 in June this year and Jeff Gordon won that race. Denny Hamlin has four of his seventeen wins here. Can he get back on track with his fifth win? This fan hopes so. Or can Jeff sweep at this track? We shall see. They will practice on Friday, qualify on Saturday and race on Sunday.
While the Sprint Cup Series is at Pocono, the NASCAR Nationwide Series is at the Iowa Speedway for the U. S. Cellular 250. Brad Keselowski was injured at the Road Atlanta course, and may not be racing in Iowa. That leaves the only Cup driver in this race being Carl Edwards, the Sprint Cup Series Points leader. Sam Hornish, Jr. will drive the #22 car for Brad.
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is also at Pocono Raceway this weekend for the Good Sam RV Emergency Road Service 250. Sprint Cup drivers will be in this race. kyle Busch will drive his #18 Truck. Kevin Harvick will drive his #2 Truck with new Sponsor Ollie’s. And Mark Martin will drive the #32 Truck for Turner.
In other news, Carl Edwards has decided against joining Joe Gibbs Racing next year and signed a multi-year agreement with Roush Fenway Racing. Jack Roush gave him his big break starting in the Truck Series and will stick with RFR for several more years. This fan thinks it was a good move to stick with the owner that brought him to fame and put him in the points lead in Sprint Cup.
I will bring you more updates later. Do you need tickets for any of these races? Go to Vivid Seats. They have all kinds of sports tickets.
