Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. This week the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads over to Sparta, KY and the Kentucky Speedway for the first time. This 1.5 mile track has hosted NASCAR races for the NASCAR Nationwide Series, as well as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, but this is the first year the Sprint Cup drivers will be at this track. (Well, not all of them, as there have always been a handful racing each time.) Joey Logano has won the past three Nationwide races here from the Pole position! Let’s see if he can continue the trend and do it in a longer race with the rest of the Sprint Cup drivers.
They will be given extra practice for testing purposes on Thursday. But since this track was not on the schedule until this year, many drivers have tested here for Sprint Cup races on 1.5 mile tracks. So they are very familiar with this track. They added extra seats for the Sprint Cup race, Quaker State 400 and all were sold out. Way to go, race fans!
