NASCAR Racing At Road Courses

by

Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. This week NASCAR is road racing. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will be at the Infineon Raceway for the Toyota/Save Mart 350, the sixteenth race of the season and the first of two road courses. This serpentine course is 1.99 miles long with ten turns. Many road course aces are entered. 77 is P. J. Jones. 81 is Brian Simo. 51 is Boris Said. 46 is Andy Pilgrim. 38 is Tony Ave. 37 is Tomy Drissi. 32 will be Terry Labonte, semi-retired, but good at road courses. There are also some regulars that are good at road courses. Jeff Gordon has five wins at this course. Marcos Ambrose almost won last year until he tried to save fuel during the final caution and couldn’t get going up the hill. Rookie Andy Lally and Robby Gordon are also good at road courses. Juan Pablo Montoya captured his first win here. Jimmie Johnson won the race last year.

While Sprint Cup is at Infineon, the NASCAR Nationwide Series will be at Road America, another road course. So there will be a lot of right hand turns this weekend, as well as the usual left hand turns.

Brought to you by Sheila Hawley. I love NASCAR racing.
