NASCAR Racing: NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race Qualifying

by

Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. After eleven races into the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, it is now time for the Stars to come out and shine in the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race. This is a non-points, no holds barred race for one million dollars. Winner take all, held at the center of racing, the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Nineteen teams are eligible for this race. However, the 21 Team has bowed out since the driver, Trevor Bayne is having health problems and cannot race. They did compete in the Pit Crew Challenge. Race winners from this year and last, as well as Event winners in the last ten years and Cup Champions from the last ten years will be in the race. Plus, the winner and second place of the Sprint Showdown and the fan favorite will bring up the rear.

Qualifying for the Sprint Showdown was normal procedure, two laps with the fastest in practice coming out last. 6 David Ragan will start this race from the Pole with a speed of 191.68 mph and 28.172 seconds. 43 A. J. Allmendinger will start next to him on the front row.

Qualifying for the Sprint All-Star Race is different. The drivers have to make a pit stop as part of their qualifying run. Time will be added for speeding to the pit stall, but not for exiting pit road. 00 David Reutimann was the only driver with any penalties. 18 Kyle Busch will start on the pole with an overall speed of 1:59.19 seconds. Second place 33 Clint Bowyer and third place 16 Greg Biffle also receive a monetary award.

There are some special paint schemes for some of the teams in this race. 14 Tony Stewart will be in a gold and white Burger King car. Jimmie Johnson’s Lowes car will be #5 for the race. Lowes is having a 5% customer appreciation sale. Mark Martin will be in the red Farmers Insurance #25 car. 25 is the car number Rick Hendrick started out with as an owner.

So…see you after the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race Saturday evening.

Brought to you by Sheila Hawley. I love NASCAR racing.
