NASCAR Racing This Weekend

Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. There will be much NASCAR racing in the three top NASCAR Series’ this weekend, but they will be on different agendas. I’ll start with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. This is their All-Star weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Last night the pit crews did their thing in the Pit Crew Challenge. This was all about the pit crew. The drivers just watched and cheered them on. The jack man lifted the car and let it down on both sides of the car. The tire changers and carriers changed a tire. And the fuel man put fuel into the car. This all happened on the sidelines in a stationary car. When done, each crew member hit a timer and went to push their car to the Finish Line. They all competed for individual time awards. The 11 FedEx team had the best pushers last year and again this year. As a result, Denny Hamlin will have the first pick for his pit stall for the race.

Before the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race will be the Sprint Showdown. The drivers who have not won this year or last and have not won the race in the last ten years or have not won a Championship in the last ten years will race in the Sprint Showdown. First and second place finishers will be entered in the Sprint All-Star Race. And there is a fan vote for the final entry. The fan vote driver must finish the Showdown on the lead lap and be able to race to be eligible. In 2008, Kasey Kahne was the fan vote and went on to win the race!

The NASCAR Nationwide Series is in Iowa at the Iowa Speedway for their John Deer Dealers 250 race the twelfth race in the Series. Only two Sprint Cup drivers are racing in this race. (Too bad there had to be any at all in this race.) Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski will race on Sunday in Iowa. 18 will be Michael McDowell, while 20 will be Drew Herring. Hopefully the Cup guys will start from the rear with a driver change.

Today the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is at Charlotte Motor Speedway for their seventh race this season. They are practicing for the N. C. Education Lottery 200 this morning and will qualify this afternoon and race this evening. Kyle Busch and Clint Bowyer are entered in this race. Oh, how I would love to see a Truck Driver win this race! I’ll be back to tell you about it.

Brought to you by Sheila Hawley. I love NASCAR.

This is the best blog I have read in a long time in any subject. During the last few years I gave up television to devote more time for caring for animals. It,s nice to find most racing weekends events and results in one place. Hat’s off to you Sheila.
