NASCAR Racing: Martinsville

by

Welcome NASCAR race fans to y NASCAR blog. This week NASCAR is at the Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, VA. On Friday there was practice for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. 6 David Ragan was fastest of the Cup drivers, while 3 Austin Dillon was fastest of the Trucks. Both will come onto the track last for those locked into the race by owner points.

Saturday is Qualifying day for both Series’. There will be no Happy Hour for practice on Saturday for Sprint Cup drivers. That means they will not be able to make adjustments on their qualifying cars. (I hate impound races. I love to watch practice.)

The Camping World Trucks qualified for the Kroger 250 on Saturday morning. Thirty-six trucks are entered, so all thirty-six will race later today. 18 Kyle Busch was fastest when he came out. 2 Kevin Harvick came out next and bumped him off the pole position. Followed by Truck regular, 13 Johnny Sauter who then bumped 2. Sauter had to wait for the rest of the drivers to qualify before he was awarded the pole position with a speed of over 95 mph and 19.836 seconds. 60 Cole Whitt who is not locked into the race will start second.

Cup qualifying will take place shortly for the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500. I’ll be back with the pole sitter.

Brought to you by Sheila Hawley. I love NASCAR.
