Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. This week NASCAR heads out to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The NASCAR Nationwide Series will race in the Sam’s Town 300, while the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will race the Kobalt Tools 400 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a 1.5 mile track with 20 degree banking in the corners and 9 degrees on the front and backstretches. LVMS is located about 17 miles north of Las Vegas.
Jimmie Johnson is the defending race winner, having won three of the last four races. Jeff Burton has won two races here, as does Matt Kenseth. Other winners are Jeff Gordon (who won the Subway Fresh Fit 500 last week), Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch. Look for Jeff to go for two wins in a row. Or for Jimmie to keep on with his streak here.
The Nationwide drivers will have two practice sessions on Friday and have qualifying and the race on Saturday. The Sprint Cup drivers will have a practice session on Friday as well as Coors Light Pole Qualifying. Sprint Cup will race the Kobalt Tools 400 on Sunday. For tickets go to Vivid Seats.
Brought to you by Sheila Hawley. I will have more later. I Love NASCAR.
