by

Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. Friday evening, Lucasinto night the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series ran the Lucas Oil 150 at the Phoenix International Raceway. The Truck race here is normally the 24th race of the season. This year it’s the second race. Phoenix is the track that hosted the very first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race.

Qualifying for the race was held earlier today with 2 Clint Bowyer sitting on the pole and 18 Kyle Busch starting second. 92 Clay Rogers leads the points. A spotlight goes on 19 David Mayhew, 51 Justin Johnson, 10 Chase Mattioli and second in points, 7 Muguel Paludo.

2 Bowyer leads from the pole. 33 Ron Hornaday gets too close to the wall but sticks to the outside to get by 3 Austin Dillon for third. 23 Jason White gets by 92. 92 and 62 Brendan Gaughan battle with 29 Parker Kligerman right there with them. 62 gets by and 29 dives low to get by.

The first caution comes out for 10 Mattioli blowing a tire. He stays on top of the track and has minimal damage. 32 Brad Sweet gets back on the lead lap. 18 takes the lead. 33 and 2 battle for third but 2 keeps the spot. 19 falls back with a flat right rear tire.

The second caution comes out when 5 Travis Kvapil gets into the wall. 4 Ricky Carmichael got loose and into 5 who blows the tire and hits the wall. 19 David Mayhew gets back on the lead lap. 30 Todd Bodine and 51 Johnson battle and make contact with 51 on the outside and 30 unable to get by. 30 finally gets by. 17 Timothy Peters gets by 3. 81 David Starr gets by 51. 20 Johanna Long (who won the Snowball Derby earlier this year) goes two laps down.

The third caution comes out during the commercial. 5 cut another tire and got into the wall. He pits, the caution comes out for his smoke and everyone else will pit. 19 David Mayhew again gets a lap back. 18 comes out of the pits first to lead. 33 and 88 Matt Crafton battle for third. The fourth caution comes out when 66 Justin Marks gets into 7 Paludo.

The fiifth caution comes out when 30 Todd Bodine gets turned by 3 while battling for sixth and into 81 and 15 Dusty Davis. The sixth caution comes out when 17 Peters spins out while 51 and 3 were battling ahead. The seventh caution comes out when 62 Gaughan gets loose and into 19, then into the wall. The eighth caution is for 4 Carmichael and 29 Parker Kligerman getting together when 29 went for a hole that wasn’t there. 13 Max Papis gets back onto the lead lap. They go back to racing, 19 looses an engine but gets to the garage and there is no caution.

18 and 2 are the only drivers to lead laps. 18 Kyle Busch who has had the most practice today wins the Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway. 2 Bowyer finishes second but neither of their points count as they are not racing for the NASCAR Camping World Series Championship.
