Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. This week the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Phoenix International Raceway for the Subway Fresh Fit 500. That is, 500 K, roughly 312 miles on this one mile track. They will repave this track after this race and reshape the dog-leg.
Ryan Newman won this race last year, while Carl Edwards won the race int the Fall. Other past winners are Jimmie Johnson (4), Mark Martin (2), Jeff Burton (2), Kevin Harvick (2), Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (2), Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth.
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the NASCAR Nationwide Series will also be at this track this weekend. For tickets you can go to Vivid Seats.
Last week NASCAR was at Daytona International Speedway. In the ARCA/ReMax Series, Bobby Gerhart won his seventh race at the track. Michael Waltrip won the Truck race. Tony Stewart won the Nationwide race. (He has yet to win the Daytona 500.) The Cinderella story of the week was Rookie Trevor Bayne winning the Daytona 500 in the Legendary Wood Brothers #21 car that had a paint scheme much like the winning car of David Pearson.
Brought to you by Sheila Hawley. I love NASCAR racing.
