NASCAR Nationwide Series at Phoenix

by

Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. The NASCAR Nationwide Series is at the Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, AZ. near Phoenix. Brad Keselowski, who captured the Series Title last week in Texas, came out second in qualifying and qualified poorly. The owner title is still on between the JGR #18 car and Brad’s Penske #22 car. 20 Joey Logano won the pole position for the WypAll 200 with a speed of 134.048. 60 Carl Edwards starts next to him on the front row. Carl will start from the pole on Sunday. Six cars failed to qualify.

The engines were started with “Lady (Danica Patrick), gentlemen and Harvick start your engine”! 20 Logano took off from the pole position. The first caution was for 70 Mark Green blowing an engine. 35 Tony Raines stays out when everybody else pitted and quickly gets in the way. 88 Aric Almirola came out of the pits first with two tires and quickly takes the lead. 60 gets by 20 and then takes the lead from 88.

62 Brendan Gaughan blows a tire and there is a caution for debris. 60 had a long pit stop when the jack man slipped on a lug nut. He came out of the pits in second and quickly took the lead from 18 Kyle Busch. 18 and 12 Justin Allgaier traded places on the track several times for second. 09 Brian Scott and 00 Martin Truex, Jr. get together. 00 gets damage and blows a tire sending the back end into the wall, pancaking the whole  rear end. 27 Alex Kennedy got into 7 Danica Patrick and she bumped him back.

60 Carl Edwards wins the WypAll 200 in a dominant fashion after leading the most laps. As usual, he flipped for the fans. 18 rallied by leader 60 to finish the race the final car on the lead lap after pitting with a flat tire left him a lap down, finishing sixteenth.  33 Kevin Harvick finished second and will try to better that by one position on Sunday. 22 Keselowski rallied to finish fourth and comes closer to the owner title. 20 Logano finished third and 32 Reed Sorenson rounded out the top five.
