NASCAR Race Review: Irwin Tools Night Race At Bristol

by

Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. The 24th race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season is the Irwin Tools Night race at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, TN. Thunder Valley, they call this .533 mile concrete track. The fastest half mile in the world!

09 is Bobby Labonte this week. 34 is Travis Kvapil. 07 is Robby Gordon, with Kevin Conway in his 7 car. 37 is Tony Raines. 71 is again Landon Cassill. And 13 will be Casey Mears with Max Papis moving full time  to the NASCAR Camping World Series full time. 48 Jimmie Johnson is on the pole with a speed of 123.475. 99 Carl Edwards starts beside Jimmie on the front row.

On Wednesday the Trucks raced in Bristol. Kyle Busch won after starting from the rear and taking out drivers to move up the field. NASCAR Nationwide series raced in Bristol on Friday night. Kyle Busch took out leader Brad Keselowski for the win. Can he win the trifecta, of sorts at this track? With or without taking out others to do so? In my opinion, intentional wrecking and then bragging about it should not be tolerated. This is racing, not WWE.

48 Johnson chooses the outside for the start of the race and takes off. 20 Joey Logano battles 00 David Reutimann. 11 Denny Hamlin and 12 Brad Keselowski battle with 18 Kyle Busch right behind. 11 and 18 get by 12. 88 dale Earnhardt, Jr. drives around 82 Scott Speed. 24 Jeff Gordon gets by 11. 42 Juan Pablo Montoya gets by 00. 24 gets around 47 Marcos Ambrose.

42 and 24 Jeff Gordon battle with 17 ahead of them. 18 and 48 battle for the lead in traffic. 18 takes the lead. 9 and 5 Mark Martin battle and 9 gets by. 5 and 11 battle. 48 and 00 battle for second with 00 taking the spot. The fourth caution comes out when 82 Scott Speed blows the right front tire and gets into the wall. 34 Travis Kvapil gets the Lucky Dog. 18, 48 and 00 battle for the lead. 18 takes the lead. 00 gets by 48 for second and 48 gets back by 00. 14 slips into the wall and goes three laps down. 1 gets by 31 Jeff Burton. 16 and 9 battle with 9 taking the spot. 33 gets by 2 Kurt Busch.

The fifth caution comes out when 09 blows a tire and gets into the wall. 42 scraped the wall. The sixth caution comes out when 42 hooks 48 sending him into the wall. 11 goes to the garage. 48 goes behind the wall. 99 had loose lug nuts and had to come back in to have them tightened. 42 has a tire rub. 16 and 47 battle. 33 and 00 battle for second.  11 comes back out onto the track, 26 laps down.

88 drives between 43 and 6. 42 and 1 battle for fourth and 1 takes the spot. 48 had to replace the cooler and radiator. 1 and 00 battle for second and 1 takes the spot. 17  pits from eighth with a flat tire. 88 and 24 battle and 245 gets by. 17 gets by 18 to get a lap back. 48 comes back out onto the track, 72 laps down. 1 is catching leader 18. 00 pits to start Green flag Pitting. 18 and 1 follow. 5 leads, then pits. 20 Joey Logano and 37 are caught speeding. 00 is leading when it is all over.

The seventh caution comes out for debris. 18 got into 26. 18 stays out. 99 Carl Edwards gets back onto the lead lap. Eleven cars are now on the lead lap. 00 and 18 battle for the lead. 18 gets into 00 but 00 cuts off 18. 9 gets on the top to get around 33 for fourth. 18 gets 00 to get him loose to take the lead. 1 and 9 are coming into the lead picture. 42 and 16 battle for eighth. 2 gets around 88 for ninth. 33 gets by 9.

And 18 Kyle Busch wins the Irwin Tools Night Race to win all three Series’. Not in a weekend, since the Truck race was on Wednesday. This is the first time anyone has swept all three series at a track. There were nine different leaders.

Brought to you by Sheila Hawley. I love NASCAR. But it is getting harder and harder to stomach Kyle Busch and his dirty, stinking ways.
