Welcome NASCAR race fans to my NASCAR blog. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is racing at the Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, PA. this weekend in the Pocono 500. This marks Summer for NASCAR. On television, TNT takes over broadcasting for six weeks, marking the summer part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Season. Different faces and voices. At least different from the first thirteen races. Most of the old crew will still be seen on SPEED TV. No more “Tighten those seat belts one more time.” or “Boogity, boogity, boogity.” Like it, or not, they’re gone for the rest of the year.
The NASCAR Nationwide Series will be on a three week stint away from the tracks the Cup Series are racing on. This Saturday they will be in Nashville at Nashville Superspeedway. Only the three Cup drivers who are competing for the NASCAR Nationwide championship and are racing all the races will be in this race. They will each need substitute drivers to practice and possibly qualify their cars. They will have to travel between Pennsylvania and Tennessee. Parker Kligerman will drive Brad Keselowski’s car. Erik Darnell will fill in for Carl Edwards. Colin Braun will be there for Paul Menard. (Personally, I’d love to see those subs get the chance to drive the cars in the race.)
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend, racing Friday night. No Cup drivers will be in that race. Ken Schrader will be in the 2 Kevin Harvick Inc. truck for Kevin Harvick. Johnny Benson will drive the 18 Kyle Busch Racing truck for Kyle Busch. Taylor Malsom will be racing in the Nationwide 10 car for Braun Racing and Kyle will close down that Truck Team.
SPEED will cover practice for all three Series’ on Friday. It should be a great weekend of NASCAR racing, and I’m looking forward to the weekend.
